Every time I look at this piece I sing to myself, “mama had a baby and her head popped off”. But in this case the baby is a turnip.
I had made this lidded vessel from a pale stoneware and handpainted with underglaze. After her bisque firing, I applied glaze to her inside and out followed by firing to cone 6. Lastly, I added 22k gold luster to her stem, gold hearts on her face, and body.
She measures approximately 5.25” tall, and is signed on the bottom.
