This vase was part of my gallery show, CACOPHONY which was about the daily noise which surrounds us. If we sit with the noise, let the messages filter through the chaos, we may find things we need to hear even if they are uncomfortable or painful. And thusly this lady has only a simple request and that is to please listen.
I handmade this vase from a red stoneware. After forming the shape I handpainted the lady with underglaze. After bisque firing, I applied a blood orange interior and clear exterior before firing to cone 6. Lastly, I added 22k gold luster to the dress patterning followed by a third and final firing.
She stands 12” tall and is siged on the bottom.
