This wall plate was part of my gallery show, CACOPHONY which was about the daily noise which surrounds us. If we sit and let the messages filter through the chaos, we may find things we need to hear even if they are uncomfortable or painful. As is the case with this divine lady who captures the sentiment of one of the many over heard quotes that find their way into my work.

I handmade this wall plate from red stoneware. After slab rolling and forming the shape, I handpainted the lady with underglaze. After bisque firing, I applied a clear glaze to the front before firing to cone 6. Lastly, I added 22k gold luster details followed by a third and final firing.

She measures 8.5” x 4.25”, and is ready to hang with macramé loops. She is singed on the bottom.
