As a ceramicist I only make pieces using handbuilding techniques. But over the past few years I have occasionally collaborated with a ceramicist who throws large piece on the wheel. The ceramicist, Shay, can be found here.
An ongoing series of wall-mounted ceramic plates and vessels all featuring cartoon bubbles with snippets of overheard conversations. Available plates can be found here.
Extravagant Creatures is a solo exhibit I staged at Paragon Gallery in Portland, Oregon from December 2022-January 2023. Over the course of the past three years, between world turmoil and personal tragedies, Extravagant Creatures has slowly taken shape. My desire has been to create objects and art that hold a promise of distraction with beauty and humor but as a viewer sits with these pieces the dread and anxiety of the world around us creeps back in. At this current time, there is no place for distraction and as an artist, I feel the need to keep pushing my viewers out of spaces of comfort with gentle nudges. The works span both ceramics and works on paper, creatures fanciful and absurd abound in both mediums.
Following are some of my favorite things to create: Hairy Leg Planters. I create planters with a variety of clay bodies, everything from porcelain to stoneware to reclaimed clays. All of my available ceramics can be purchase through my Etsy shop. I’m also open to commission projects, please contact me for details.
EYES EYES EYES is a continuing series of ceramic pieces I’ve been creating using the same pattern of eyes and hair. Available pieces can be found on etsy.
An ongoing series of ceramic pieces using a repeating pattern as a common thread. Available work can be found here.
Dream Girls are a series of ceramic sculptures based on a dream I had in late 2020. In the dream, I was loading a firing shelf with little busts of women with ornate hair and clothing and words scrawled across their chest. I went into the studio the next day and began this series. You can shop my available ceramic work through my shop.
Dream House is a series of paintings and ceramics inspired by dreams had by myself and others over the course of the covid-19 pandemic. The pieces were shown together at the Lolopass Gallery in Portland, OR during May 2022. The project was funded in part by RACC.
In the lead up to the Dream House show at Lolopass, I installed a ceramic box with a slot. Next to the box I left little worksheets where visitors could write down their dream with the intention that these dreams might eventually become additional art pieces or perhaps a zine.
My Potion Bottle series started with some strange vessels that I decided to start adding corks to. I like thinking they are for potions or spellwork.
Priestess Vessels are a series of handpainted & handbuilt ceramic vessels which I began in 2021. These ceramics, along with my full range of ceramics, are available here in my Etsy shop.
Walking Mountains is a solo exhibit which I had in July 2021 in an unconventional back yard gallery. 1122 Gallery consists of a Portland, OR yard with multiple structures that have been converted for the purposes of displaying art, including a car port, large shed, and a chicken coop.
I’ve been playing around with free standing and wall mounted ceramic houses. Some are for sale online, others were custom made.
