This vase was part of my gallery show, CACOPHONY which was about the daily noise which surrounds us. If we sit with the noise, let the messages filter through the chaos, we may find things we need to hear even if they are uncomfortable or painful. And thusly this lady has a simple message which should be self evident, that women’s stories are deserving of attention.

I handmade this vase from a pale stoneware. After forming the shape I handpainted the lady with underglaze. After bisque firing and glazing, I fired the piece a second time to cone 6. Lastly, I added 22k gold luster to her hoop earring followed by a third and final firing.

She stands 8.5” tall and is signed on the bottom.
