This wall plate set was part of my gallery show, CACOPHONY which was about the daily noise which surrounds us. If we sit and let the messages filter through the chaos, we may find things we need to hear even if they are uncomfortable or painful…or about fingers. As is the case with this these two ladies who captures the two sentiments of the many over heard quotes that find their way into my work.

I handmade these wall plates from porcelain. After slab rolling and forming the shapes, I handpainted the ladies with underglaze. After bisque firing, I applied a clear glaze to the front before firing to cone 6. Afterwards I added 22k gold luster details followed by a third and final firing. Lastly I used macramé to attach the finger and drops of blood.

Don’t Lose a Finger measures 13” x 8.5”.

Never Been Much o a Finger Guy measures 12.5” x 7”.

Both are ready to hang with macramé loops, and are singed on the bottom.
