SKETCHBOOKS FOR POTTERS - Four Week Workshop: TUESDAYS, APRIL 28TH to MAY 19: 6pm - 9pm
The pages of a sketchbook are a place where artists can explore new ideas without judgement. A well used sketchbook is one filled with drawings, thoughts, and secret plans, all centered around the intention of propelling your artistic practice forward and avoiding artist block. What sketchbooks aren’t necessarily filled with are perfect drawings. As potters we are rooted in thinking about shapes in three dimensions. But regardless of medium, a sketchbook is perhaps the most essential tool for every artist.
In this class, you will learn how to develop your practice of working in a sketchbooks to support the further development of you as an artist. Some of the topics we will explore include drawing from ceramics of the past, observational drawing, gathering information, and connecting ideas into new work.
