This mug is part of my series called Big Hair, Big Ideas™, where I imagine pageant queens having overwrought conversations backstage. To create the conversations, I assemble fragments of things I’ve over heard and turn into Conversation Collages ™. Such as on this mug where two dressed up ladies talk about a recent breakup.

I handmade this mug with a pale stoneware and handpainted the ladies with underglaze. After bisque firing, I added a purple glaze to the inside and clear to the outside. Once it was through the glaze kiln, I applied 22k gold luster details before a third and final firing.

This mug is 3.5” tall, holds approximately 10 fl oz and is signed on the bottom.
