Drawing from my deep appreciation of Beat Poetry, I love to combine fragments of overheard conversations and reassemble them to create new meaning. In this example, the connection being sought by the blue hair lady is not about a personal relationship, but rather the joining of a ceramic attachment. Meanwhile, I no longer remember the context in which I heard the quote from the lady with black hair, but that also no longer matters within this newly formed conversation collage.

This mug which is part of my series, Big Hair / Big Ideas, was handmade with a pale stoneware and handpainted with underglaze. After bisque firing, I added a dark sparkly glaze to the inside and clear to the outside. Once it was through the glaze kiln, I applied 22k gold luster details before a third and final firing.

This mug is 3.625” tall, holds approximately 10 fl oz and is signed on the bottom.
