This piece was part of my 2026 show titled, Verrucas’s Daughter, at The Arts Center in Corvallis, OR. The theme of the show was to ask if in the present moment, must every work be a deeply meaningful commentary on the world, or is it enough if it simply makes the viewer smile for a moment? This oddly shaped pieces says, “finding balance for yourself can be revolutionary”. It’s silly and meaningful, much like me!

I handmade this wall plate with a red stoneware. After slab rolling and forming the shape, I handpainted with colorful underglazes. Once bisque fired and cooled, I applied a clear glaze to the front and then fired to cone 6. Lastly, I added 22k gold luster details and fired for a third and final time.

Plate measures  17.5”x 6.25” x .5”, is ready to hang with hand tied ribbon loops, and is signed on the back.

If She was Beholden, Could She Ever Be the Beholder, is a hand-cut and assembled artist zine filled with illustrations originally created with a mix of ink, graphite, and gouache. The book is a primal scream of rage against a world filled with misogyny and other outrages that never seem to get better. This is rage is loosely intertwined with imagery and references to the story of Medusa and her relationship with Athena. And while the struggle in this story can feel hopeless and unwinnable, the book still ends with encouragement to keep bettering ourselves and while fighting injustice.

Pricing: $225

• Includes instruction, materials, application of clear glaze to student pieces, and firing.

Agenda:

• Week 1: Using pinch and coil techniques, build one creature of whatever size you can make in allotted time (usually between 9-12” tall)

• Week 2: Decorate creatures with underglaze.

  • Depending on complexity of design, session may not require the full allotted time.

• Week 3: Add additional decorations and details with colorful and clear glazes.

  • Depending on complexity of design, session may not require the full allotted time.

  • Workshop does not include gold luster.

• Pieces will be ready for pickup approximately one month after class.

Class Policies:

• Lessons cannot be rescheduled or refunded, but with seven day notice, will receive credit that can be applied to future classes and / or online shop.

  • Classes are transferable with prior approval.

• Classes begin promptly on time. Lessons cannot be extended and if arriving late will miss instruction and work time.
