I made this bottle for a group show called The Mom and Pop Shop, at Cargo, in Portland, OR. Each artist was asked to interpret what you might find in a corner store; artistic iterations of daily necessities. Within an hour of reading the call, I was struck with a lightening bolt of inspiration. My idea was to make a bottle filled not with alcohol, but to fill you with encouragement!
I handmade each bottle from some of my favorite types of stoneware. After forming the shape, I handpainted each lady and text with underglaze. Once it was bisque fired, I applied multiple glazes to create different effects and then fired again to cone 6. Lastly, I aded 22k gold luster details before firing a third and final time.
Bottles measure approximately between 7” and 8” tall without the cork. Each one is signed on the bottom.
