I Thought We Would, But Did Not, Porcelain Sculpture with 22k Gold Luster
I Thought We Would, But Did Not, Porcelain Sculpture with 22k Gold Luster
This two piece sculpture tells a story but exactly what depends on how you see it. What did the lady think would be worked out? Is it a child wearing a costume or some sort of monster consuming a child? You may know the answers with confidence or want to spend time contemplating different possibilities. When you give my work a home you become the storyteller.
This sculpture was handbuilt by me using porcelain and handpainted with underglaze. The sculpture was then bisque fired before I applied a clear glaze to all areas except the lady’s face which I left unglazed. After firing to cone 6, I added 22k gold details to the monster / child and fired it again for a third and final time.
This sculpture measures 10” x 6” x 7” when assembled.
The lady is 5.5” × 7” × 7”.
The monster / child is 7” × 3.5” × 3.5”
The lady is signed on the lower interior.
