Gold luster is one of my favorite ways to make my ceramics extra. Sometimes I add just a few freckles, other times I go nuts and use half the bottle on a single piece. But working with gold luster requires good ventilation so that one does not end up like this lady who’s spent too much time with the lid off and no fresh air.

I handmade this ring dish from porcelain. After slab rolling and forming the shape, I handpainted the lady with colorful underglaze. She was then bisque fired, glazed, and fired a second time to cone 6. Lastly I adorned her with 22k gold freckles and a bow in her hair before a final firing.

She measures 4.25” x4.125”, and is signed on the back.
