Patterns inspired by textiles have always figured very heavily in my work. My earliest fascinations with illustration started with textile pattern. As a child my grandmother had a couch with the most intensely gorgeous floral pattern in navy blues and corals. I would lay on that couch for hours looking at the pattern, fascinated that someone had drawn that beautiful pattern.
With places like Spoonflower.com now it is super easy for me to play around with surface design for my own projects. I’ve created printed papers for use in a large-scale art installation and designed tea towels for sale and events and on-line. You can order many of these patterns as fabric, wallpaper, or wrapping paper from my Spoonflower shop.
