New Drawing: From the Beginning
While at first glance, my work may not seem like it has much to do with current events, in fact my work is heavily influenced by the events of the day. This piece especially, as I struggle to stay grounded in my day to day life with the news of Syria and the presidential elections here in the US and so many other stories that break my heart, I can’t help but feel that I’m trying to meditate upon a pile of destruction and agony. But from the beginning, we have been struggling with chaos and violence, sometimes I find solace in the ruins of history, feeing like when history is explored we are making progress. But progress is never fast enough for the ones that fall victim to history’s violence.
This piece is ink on paper, 11″ x 14″.
If you’d like to meditate further upon this piece, prints are available in my Society 6 shop.
